We head to the polls on October 22. Let’s vote to #BuildtheGrid

Our campaigns crew have been out speaking to residents and collecting pledges in neighbourhoods across the city.

This Thursday, October 18 we’ll be announcing which mayoral and council candidates supported our three #BuildtheGrid asks, alongside our #BuildTheVisionTO partners. In June, our coalition distributed a survey to all council candidates for their support of our 15 recommendations to build safe and active streets for all ages and abilities in the next term of Council.

Over the last month, our #BuildtheGrid campaigners have been out almost every day, connecting with local residents at busy intersections in Etobicoke, North York, East York, and Midtown. Unsurprisingly, we are finding overwhelming support for getting the Cycling Network Plan built faster, for protected bike lanes on main streets, and for safe, connected neighbourhood bike routes.

New data from CBC Toronto's Vote Compass found that nearly one in two Torontonians report transportation as their top concern. This is consistent with polling we conducted with the David Suzuki Foundation, which found that residents from across the city are concerned about road safety and support building protected bike lanes.

Make sure you know where your candidates stand on Building the Grid: be the first to read survey results on Thursday by subscribing to our email updates and following us on TwitterInstagram, and Facebook.
