Cycle Toronto AGM & COVID-19

March 16, 2020

Due to the escalating public health concerns surrounding Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the advice of public health officials, Cycle Toronto has made the decision to postpone our Annual General Meeting (AGM) which was previously scheduled for March 31, 2020.

We will update with a new date for our AGM when current guidelines change around public meetings and gatherings, and we will also explore alternative options. We believe this decision is in the best interest of individual members and public health as a whole. We appreciate your understanding and apologise for any inconvenience.

As our advocacy involves working with the City, we want to note the City of Toronto has cancelled all City Council, committee, board, and tribunal meetings until April 3. All public consultations, including those hosted by City Planning, are also cancelled. For the latest updates on the COVID-19 risk in Toronto, other closures, and how to protect yourself, we recommend visiting the City’s website: toronto.ca/covid19.

As an organization whose mission is to make Toronto a safe, healthy and vibrant cycling city, Cycle Toronto does not take these concerns lightly. Protecting vulnerable populations including seniors, people with compromised immune systems, and individuals experiencing homelessness is crucial. We also value the importance of good governance, and ensuring your voices are heard. Amidst the uncertainty, ensuring fair, accessible, and timely elections is still our priority.

Stay safe, follow the latest health and safety guidelines, and when you need to leave your home and travel we can still recommend riding a bicycle.

Respectfully yours,

Kathryn Randle, Chair of the Board
Michael Longfield, Interim Executive Director

Director Elections and Slate Process

This year, five directors will be elected to the Board. The Board will be interviewing nominees and recommending a slate of candidates to the membership. We have three current Board members who are seeking re-election.

All those who are running will have a profile posted on the website closer to the AGM.
