Let's Make the Bike Boom Permanent

When the pandemic shut down Toronto the first time, Cycle Toronto was forced to rethink how we provide cycling education. We couldn’t meet in person, so we went online. We transformed our workshops and started producing more online cycling resources than ever before. Then the Bike Boom happened. Last year, 29% of people riding the ActiveTO road openings were new or renewed bike riders and our educational materials for new riders were read by tens of thousands.

Fall Cycling Tips

Fall Cycling Tips

This time of year the conditions change often — whether it's cool, warm, rainy, snowy, or leaves are on the ground, it all affects how you ride. It’s important to be prepared for and stay safe in all of these conditions, and more. Here are our shoulder fall cycling tips.

Winter Cycling - Why Should I?

If you’re not a winter-loving person, cold weather is no fun no matter how you get around. And since you’re going to bundle up regardless, rather than wait for your car to heat up, shiver at the bus stop, or sardine yourself onto the subway, why not warm your body up and ride instead? It’s a great way to stay active through the winter and get some sunlight into your eyes.

Don't let wet leaves get in the way of a smooth journey.

While fall colours make Toronto a beautiful place to be outdoors this time of year, falling leaves can create slippery conditions for city cyclists. Turning, braking, and accelerating can become more challenging maneuvers that were previously done with ease, while other hazards can become hidden under damp orange foliage.
