Announcing our March Member Magic winner

Lorraine and Travis with Travis' new bike outside Urbane Cyclist

In March 2019, we witnessed a huge surge in membership, with 550+ new and renewing members

We're at our highest membership numbers ever for this time of year and we can't thank you enough for getting on board.

The more members we have, the stronger our voice, and the greater our capacity to get things done.

Joining Cycle Toronto means supporting our advocacy work, education initiatives, and encouragement programs to make a cycling-friendly Toronto for all. From securing permanent bike lanes on Bloor to pushing for design upgrades on Adelaide, memberships are the foundation of our work. Being a member also gives you access to a host of benefits including lock-cutting.

Announcing our March Member Magic winners

Long-time Cycle Toronto member Lorraine was our lucky March Member Magic winner. In a story that illustrates how generous and warm-hearted our members are, Lorraine decided to share her winnings with a friend in need, Travis. Travis had a rough year, which included having his beloved bike stolen - leaving him without his main form of transportation.

Originally, Urbane Cyclist offered their Urbanite Lakeshore bike to a lucky winner. However, Travis lives in Guelph, which is a lot hillier than Toronto. As much as he loved the look of the Urbanite Lakeshore bike, he would have had to make some changes to manage riding up hills. So, the fine folks at Urbane graciouly offered to switch it out for a Brodie commuter bike with an internally geared hub: a solid, beautiful, reliable everyday bike.

Here are Lorraine and Travis celebrating new bike day outside Urbane Cyclist.

Travis is already enjoying his new ride and couldn't be happier, writing:

“I went for my first real ride today...Thanks again...it is a beauty to ride.”

Huge thanks to Urbane Cyclist for donating this bike.
