Special Members' Meeting on Charitable Status
At our 2019 AGM, the Cycle Toronto membership voted 98% in favour of applying for charitable status. Following the vote, we applied for charitable status in May 2019. After a lengthy process, we are pleased to announce that the CRA Charities Directorate has informed us it intends to approve our application!
However, before we can register as a charity, we need to update our organizational objectives to comply with laws regulating charities.
- Extract of special resolution of the members approving Application for SLP
- Application for Supplementary Letters Patent
- Comparison of old and new charitable objects
In order to change our objectives, we need the membership’s approval. We are therefore inviting you to a special members’ meeting to discuss and vote on these changes on Monday, December 21 at 12pm on Zoom. If you would like to participate, please register here by 9am on December 21 so that we can confirm that your membership is active before the meeting begins.
In order to attend the meeting and vote you must:
- Have an active Cycle Toronto membership
- Register for the members meeting
- Have Zoom installed on your device (web browser will not work for voting)
- Have a free Zoom account
You will not be able to:
- Dial in by phone
- Have multiple members from the same household vote with the same Zoom account / device
If you are not able to attend the meeting and have an active Cycle Toronto membership, proxy voting is available but ballots must be received by December 19th. Please email info@cycleto.ca if you would like a proxy form.
Once these changes have been made to our objectives, we will continue with the process of registering as a charity, which will take several months. We will let you know as soon as this is complete.
We are excited about the impact charitable status will have on the sustainability and effectiveness of Cycle Toronto’s work.
For a recap of how we got here, please read our Q & A document before the meeting.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Francesca Allodi-Ross
President of the Board
