Terms of Employment
Full time, permanent position, 40 hours / week
Anticipated start date: June 2019
Salary range: $42-000-$47,000 per year, pro-rated, commensurate with experience
Health benefits and a competitive vacation package are available upon completion of a successful 3-month probation period.
Reporting to the Executive Director and the Director of Programs & Engagement, the Communications & Marketing Manager will be responsible for all communications channels and help develop and share our culture and impact.
Roles & Responsibilities

Oversee produce and distribution of new written and visual communications and compelling marketing materials (e.g., photography, videos, promotional messaging, presentations, partner deliverables for campaigns, programs and membership drives

Create innovative and engaging content and maintain Cycle Toronto’s social media channels, website, Ring & Post e-newsletter, and online profiles using digital engagement tools and strategies (e.g. Hootsuite, Canva, Facebook Ads, SEO)

Design and/or work with designers to produce compelling graphic and web materials for campaigns, programs, and events, ensuring brand consistency and accurate messaging

Produce creative briefs, ensure brand standards are implemented,using Cycle Toronto’s graphic toolkit as needed

Work with Cycle Toronto’s business members and program partners to deliver marketing resources. Create sponsorship materials and slide decks

Work with photographers, videographers, and web developers to produce resources and promotional content for programs and events

Deliver engaging communications to members and donors and help ensure member and donor fundraising targets are met

Develop media releases and action alerts related to priority advocacy campaigns and programs; support the planning and execution of press conferences

Manage monthly online mailing schedule to deliver coordinated and impactful messaging across thematic areas

Evaluate and maintain up-to-date records of media coverage, web analytics, social media, partner & business member deliverables, event attendance, and other metrics to track performance and conversions as needed
Qualifications

Familiarity with cycling in Toronto. Rides a bicycle and is passionate about building a healthy, vibrant, and safe cycling city for all

Post-secondary degree or diploma, or equivalent experience. Preference for designation in communications, marketing, fundraising, public relations, urban planning, political science, or related field to the position

Professional work experience in communications, fundraising and/or marketing with or within not-for-profit organizations

Awareness of best practices for social marketing and storytelling for change. Interest in municipal politics, transportation, and/or grassroots advocacy

Demonstrates proficiency in writing and editing compelling content for a variety of mediums and contexts

Experience with and passion for social media and its ability to change the conversation

Experience in developing and maintaining brand presence across all communications channels

Has led or helped to lead graphic campaigns and is able to produce compelling web and communications materials

Comfort with graphic design software: Adobe Design Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)

Strong Assets

Experience with Drupal, CMS databases, CSS and/or HTML

Professional graphic design certification and/or experience

Involvement with active transportation campaigns or Cycle Toronto’s campaigns
