Director Elections and New Slate Process

To ensure we bring on the right talent and skills to the Cycle Toronto Board of Directors we have changed our board nominations process for 2019. This year we have interviewed all nominees and are recommending to our membership a slate of nominees for election. This is the process taken by most established non-profits and one that we believe strikes a balance between democratic openness and building an effective board.  Regardless of which nominees are on the slate, all nominees were free to run in the election. Directors are ultimately elected by the membership at the AGM.  We strive to be fair and transparent and we appreciate your support as we attempt this new process.

This year, we were in need of experience in IT and communications/marketing.  We also valued skills in Board experience, community affiliation/access, finance/accounting, fundraising, human resources, organizational management, law, leadership, strategic planning, and risk management.

We are excited to announce that the slate for this year is Lachlan Holmes, Ashley Quan, Valkyrie Savage, and Eric McGoey, all pictured below.

Dutch Auction

Every year at our AGM, we do an entertaining fundraiser called a Dutch Auction to support and expand our work.

How does this work?

In a Dutch Auction, bids start high and decrease over the course of the event, allowing everyone to donate at a level that's comfortable for them.

The best part? If the fundraising target is met, Cycle Toronto staff will perform a stunt. It could be funny and may even occur in front of AGM attendees. Past years' antics have included our Executive Director Jared Kolb dying his hair Cycle Toronto orange and our Development Manager Mark Romeril doing an on-stage obstacle course using progressively smaller bikes. Don't miss this year's AGM to see what weird and hilarious challenge we've cooked up this time!

Cycle Toronto's AGM is a members-only event. Our ongoing advocacy efforts are not possible without you! You can join us or renew your membership online beforehand, or at the door. Bonus: join or renew in March and you could win an Urbanite Lakeshore bike from Urbane Cyclist.
