Jack Layton Beer Launch and Bike Raffle at Henderson Brewing
Join us at Henderson Brewery - right on the West Toronto Railpath - for a special launch, celebration, and auction!
The latest in Henderson Brewery's Ides series of monthly limited edition beers celebrates Bike Month with a tribute to one of Toronto’s most famous cycling advocates, the late Jack Layton. Post & Ring NEIPA is named after the iconic bike lock stands all over Toronto that Layton had a hand in designing during his time on city council. Brewed in collaboration with Jack son’s and current city councillor Mike Layton, Post & Ring is described as “a juicy, hazy, pillow-y IPA – perfectly refreshing after a long day of biking around the city.”. Henderson Brewery will be handing out free glasses of it, and will have some amazing (and complimentary) food alongside - this month, cycling lovers/local heroes Love Chix are sending their legendary Fried Chicken, along with some other snacks too! (Vegetarian options included!)
Mike Layton and Olivia Chow will be on-hand to talk about Jack’s cycling legacy and help launch the new beer, and they have donated his vintage bike for a live auction starting at 6:30pm. The bike will be on display in the Henderson Brewery tap room as of early June in case you want to swing by and check it out ahead of time!
It was briefly Councillor Mike Layton's bike too!
A portion of the sale of each beer sold, plus all proceeds from the auction will go to Cycle Toronto, and we'll be there with a pop up info booth with the inside scoop on all things Bike Month.
This is a free event, and all are welcome!
