The History & Future of Bike Lanes on Bloor: Panel Discussion

Register to attend our free panel discussion

Bloor St is the lifeblood of Toronto - a vibrant strip of restaurants, commerce, university hangouts, and neighbourhoods that has nearly everything to offer. It exemplifies what it is that makes living, working and shopping local not only possible, but desirable in the age of big-box stores and traffic congestion. The way Torontonians travel has increasingly shifted toward transit, walking and biking. As a reflection of this and after decades of advocacy, a bike lane pilot was installed along Bloor from Shaw St to Avenue Rd in August 2016. The pilot phase will last a year, and is one of the most heavily scrutinized and studied pieces of cycling infrastructure to date.

As part of the Toronto for Everyone Farewell to Honest Ed's event, Cycle Toronto's Jared Kolb and a panel of guests including Councillor Joe Cressy (Ward 20), Nancy Smith Lea (TCAT), Albert Koehl (Bells on Bloor), and Jacquelyn Hayward Gulati (City of Toronto Transportation Services) will share perspectives on the longest running cycling campaign in our city's history. We'll talk about what it took for the vision of bike lanes on Bloor to become a reality, how the pilot is being measured for success and the future of Bloor St.
