Road Have Stories

The theme of this year's World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims is “Roads Have Stories”. Roads and streets do more than connect us from A to B. They tell stories worth remembering, some of them tragic.

Friends and Families for Safe Streets invites all those concerned about making our roads and streets safer to join us for a candlelit walk from David Pecaut Square to the Toronto Music Garden on this year's World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. At the end of the walk, FFSS will hold a vigil for the people killed in traffic violence.

The Art of Distraction Campaign

Friends and Families for Safe Streets has partnered with the City of Toronto on “The Art of Distraction”, a series of stories and installations intended to remind drivers to pay attention behind the wheel. We hope this campaign can provide some purpose to our senseless losses.

As difficult as it is to bring memories of our loss to the forefront, we hope the audience for Art of Distraction will find it difficult to look away and ignore the campaign’s message. Although there will never be justice for the victims of crashes and their families, the Art of Distraction takes an important step towards doing justice to our experiences of road violence.
